Paul Teutul,
Sr., was a lifelong metalworker by trade is founder of
Orange County Choppers company. He started small by
building bikes in his basement where he lived in Orange
County New York. His oldest son Paul helped him
with the design of these bikes. Their first bike was
Paul Sr.’s fabrication called “True Blue” showcased at
Daytona Biketoberfest in 1999. Still working from his
basement, Paul decided to officially open Orange County
Choppers in that year.
People
began noticing both Pauls including television. The tv
station Discovery Channel approached them for a series in
2002. The show known as American Chopper is a
tremendous hit showcasing the bike building process, family
squabbles and what it takes to run a bike building
business. They have built many bikes for corporate
sponsors and movies such as Spiderman, Microsoft, Coke, US
Army and more. Many celebrities have commissioned them
to build bikes. Orange County Choppers continues to be
one of the top builders in the business.
