UFC light Heavyweight champion Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida is a Karate Mixed Martial Artist who
recently defended the belt at UFC 104 with a win over Maricio 'Shogun' Rua by unanimous decision.
Machida is the son of a well known Japanese karate master - Yoshizo Machida. As of 2009, Lyoto holds an undefeated record in mixed martial arts fights.
Machida has big winso ver former UFC champions Tito Ortiz, Rich 'Ace' Franklin and Rashad Evans.
On May 23, 2009, Lyoto captured theUFC light-heavyweight championship by defeating champ Rashad Evans via knockout in the second round.
IN the October 24, 2009 bout against former PRIDE competitor Rua, Machida kept his belt by winning a tactical battle which many thought he lost.
