The Bugatti Veyron is one of the world's most desirable cars due to its looks as well as speed. The car is built by German manufacturer Volkswagen while being produced in France at the company's headquarters in Molsheim. With a mid-engine design, the vehicle has only had a few hundred of these on the roads due to the pricing and time to build.
At a recent automobile show in Frankfurt, the newest model of Veyron was displayed to the audience complete with a unique finish on the body. The displayed Veyron had no paint on the car but rather just clear coat on top of the alumnium/carbon fiber shell which made the shine from the silver body unique. Named Pur Sang ('pureblood'), the release of this model was sold out when all five units were quickly purchased.
The engine on the Veyron is a 16 cylinder engine which equates to basically two 8 cylinder motors pushing this car. The 16 cylinders are positioned in a tight W config with each cylinder having four valves on it. Added to the engine are four camshafts and four turbochargers. Unexpectedly is the transmission on the Veyron which is not a stick-shift but a computer controlled automatic transmission. The reported retail price of a new transmissions is $120,000. Also, top speed was clocked at 253 mph with fuel economy at 8 miles per gallon city with a whopping 13 miles per gallon highway.
